A set of 4 hand-painted breakfast bowl from Caldas da Rainha — a single trailing vine in pale blue-green carrying dark pointed leaves around the full circumference, the kind of mark that looks effortless and takes a steady artist hand to create. The trailing vine is one of the oldest marks in ceramic history. Brought by through the Moorish tradition into the workshops of Portugal, where the painters simplified it to its essential elements and evolved into the modern version you see today. Fruit on a kitchen counter, soup on a cold evening, breakfast every morning without exception, this fine European Earthenware will get you from day to night in style.
